The Real Baja Boats !

The project began September 1st 1999. A very used and neglected 1975 Baja V1800J. Found the ad on-line in Davenport, Ia. Went to look at it and it was definitely rough. Rotten back seat, rotten floor, 4 terrible tires and matching condition wheels. It did fire right up though.

Told the owner I wouldn't even consider it unless I could drive it. He was very reluctant since the bellows on both cables were bad and the bilge pump did not work. One tire was so bad it wouldn't make it to the river which was only 3 miles away! Convinced him to replace the bad tire, he did but not until he explained to me that the tire was fine last night. Yea, right! Anyway off to the river (Mississippi) at dark. Well it ran pretty good all things considered like the steering cable that was almost stuck. Shot him a price and off we were pulling the old girl home praying the other 3 tires would make it and the bearings would too. We did make it home. This is what it looked like when we got it home.

Notice the nice location for the trailer lights. Perfect for getting bent whenever you walk by it!

My wife worked hard on the upolstery and it turned out real nice.
